Construction: 172 parchment leaves, the upper and outer edges trimmed. Some fire-damage at the foot, not affecting the text. 410 x 290 (295 x 175) mm., plummet-ruled in 2 cols of 60 lines. Pricked in both margins.
Hands: Written throughout in one small, neat English book-hand. Annotated in hands of the late 12th - 15th cents. Peter Partrich (see MS 72) writes notes on ff.7, 171v and running heads in the top outer corner of each recto from f.157.
Decoration: (1) Initials have been excised from ff.5v, 46, 56, 64v, 67, 69, 72, 74, 75, 77, 103v, 108v, 139, 157. The single remaining one (f.68) is in late 'Channel Style', with winged dragons in pink, blue and gold. (2) Red and blue initials flourished in both colours; (3) Red or blue initials flourished in the other colour; until f.4 green also occurs. (4) Red and blue running titles on a line ruled across the page, and distinctio-numbers in the margins. Occasional red and blue pen-work sprays into the margins. (5) Plain red or blue initials and paraphs. |
